01Writing
How do I write an entry?
Tap + at the bottom right. Write a few lines, then add how you felt under Mood, a category, the place you're at, photos or a voice note. Tap Done to save.
Can I change the date or time of an entry?
Yes. In the entry, tap the date or time at the top to move it, for example to write about yesterday.
What is the daily prompt?
A question to get you started, new each day. Tap it for another one, or turn it off in Settings › Daily prompt.
02Photos, voice and places
Can Pulse see all my photos?
No. Photos are chosen with Android's photo picker, so Pulse only gets the ones you pick.
Why does adding a place use the internet?
Searching for a place and drawing its small map come from OpenStreetMap services. Pulse only sends what you type or the area being shown, never your entries. The privacy policy has the details.
03Reminders and widgets
How do I set a daily reminder?
Turn on Settings › Daily reminder and pick a time. On this day can also remind you when you have a memory to look back on.
My reminder doesn't go off.
Check that notifications are allowed for Pulse in your phone's settings. On some Android phones, battery saving can delay alarms: set Pulse's battery use to Unrestricted.
Why don't widgets show what I wrote?
Entry text is hidden on widgets so nobody can read it over your shoulder. Turn on Settings › Widgets › Show entry text to show it.
04Backup and your data
How do I move my journal to a new phone?
In Settings › Backup, tap Export backup. It saves everything, photos and voice notes included, to one file. On the new phone, install Pulse and tap Import backup.
Is my journal backed up automatically?
No. Pulse has no cloud copy, so if you lose your phone or remove the app, your journal goes with it. Export a backup now and then and keep it somewhere safe.
How do I delete everything?
Go to Settings › Delete all entries, or uninstall the app. Nothing is stored anywhere else.
